Background & Experience
Mr. Tarango currently serves as the South Bay Area Health Education Center Director at CHP. In this role, Jesse increases community-based health professions training programs, focuses on increasing the diversity of the health workforce, strengthens collaborations and develops partnerships between institutions with similar missions, and supports communication between community and academic partners. Since joining Community Health Partnership, Jesse has been a part of various projects in the areas of workforce development, health coverage, and policy. In collaboration with Phillip Vu of CHP, Mr. Tarango created a Patient Centered Communication curriculum which utilizes the CI CARE model. Jesse has trained over 400 healthcare professionals, including CEOs, doctors, nurses, and front desk staff. In health coverage, Jesse coordinated efforts in the evaluation of the enrollment process of the Patient Care Access Program (PCAP) by engaging feedback from over 200 community health center patients. In the area of policy, he has helped create a cross-sector collective impact movement in District 5 of Santa Clara County by connecting leadership from dozens of community based organizations with the goal of making improvements in the social determinants of health of the people they serve.
