San Jose AIDS Education and Training Center
Overview
The San Jose AIDS Education and Training Center (AETC) works to improve the quality of life for people living with HIV/AIDS by supporting and training their health care providers so they can provide high quality, accessible services. Funded by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), HIV/AIDS Bureau, (administrator of the Ryan White CARE Act, Part F), the San Jose AETC conducts targeted, multi-disciplinary training and capacity building programs for healthcare providers who treat persons living with HIV/AIDS.
Goal
The mission of San Jose AIDS Education and Training Center (AETC) is to provide health care professionals with the knowledge and skills necessary to care for HIV-infected patients in underserved and vulnerable populations, increase the numbers of trained health care professionals working with HIV-infected patients, and to respond to the needs of high-risk populations and the changing face of the epidemic.
Objectives

Activities
Clinical training, capacity building and technical assistance is available to physicians, physician assistants, nurses, nurse practitioners, dentists, dental hygienists, pharmacists, and all members of interdisciplinary care teams in the counties of Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, Monterey, San Benito and San Luis Obispo.
2011 HIV Care and Prevention Conference
The 2011 HIV Care & Prevention Conference is designed to increase knowledge and skills of health care providers surrounding HIV/AIDS prevention and care through evidence-based training and updates. The Conference will emphasize the critical need to provide quality, culturally competent and gender-sensitive HIV care to our patients while addressing various risk factors, co-morbidities and pharmacologic interactions. Emergency Preparedness Program
Overview
As part of the Community Programs and Population Health division, Community Health Partnership coordinates Emergency Preparedness activities such as training, county or state-wide drills, and maintenance of Emergency Operations Plans for member health centers in Santa Clara and Southern San Mateo County. Community Health Partnership contracts with California Primary Care Association (CPCA) and the Santa Clara County Hospital Preparedness Program (HPP).
Goal
To provide Emergency Preparedness presentations and trainings for clinicians, administrative staff, and other health and social service providers.
Activities

Providing technical assistance to its member clinics:

Emergency operations planning assistance

Evaluation and corrective actions (i.e. review and updating of clinic and health center emergency operations plans)

Exercises (i.e. emergency preparedness drills and scenarios)

Emergency preparedness liaison assistance

Emergency preparedness education and training for clinic staff

Maintaining a consortia level Emergency Preparedness Task Force

Planning and/or participating in clinic and community disaster exercises.
