Women’s Health Partnership
Women’s Health Partnership is a collection of women’s health programs that offer screenings, education and training to low-income women. These health programs are the Cancer Detection Program Every Woman Counts, the Community Mammography Access Project (CMAP), and Communities United for Women’s Health (CUWHP).
Cancer Detection Program: Every Woman Counts
Overview
Cancer Detection Programs: Every Woman Counts (CDP: EWC) is a program of the cancer Detection Section of the California Department of Public Health’s Chronic Disease and Injury Control Division. With the support of bi-cultural and bilingual community health workers, education and screenings are offered in a variety of settings, including local agencies, community centers, cultural events, and worksites.
Goal
To save lives by preventing and reducing the devastating effects of cancer through early detection, diagnosis and treatment, with special emphasis on the underserved.
Objectives of Cancer Detection Program Every Woman Counts:
o Providing clinical breast exams, mammograms, pelvic exams, and Pap tests
o Providing technical assistance and training to health care providers
o Providing tailored health education sessions about breast and cervical cancer prevention to women who are 50 years or older, low income, and have rarely or never been screened

Women interested in learning if they qualify for free breast and cervical screenings can call: 1-800-511-2300. Live operators who speak English, Cantonese, Mandarin, Korean, and Vietnamese are available over the phone, Monday-Friday, 8:30-5:00 pm. For more information, click here.

Community Mammography Access Project (CMAP)
Overview
Cancer Detection Programs: Every Woman Counts (CDP: EWC) is a program of the Cancer Detection Section of the California Department of Public Health’s Chronic Disease and Injury Control Division. CMAP started with a directive by Santa Clara Board Supervisor, Liz Kniss to establish mobile mammography services. In collaboration with our network of community health centers, the St. Joseph’s Mobile Mammography Program, and the Santa Clara Valley Health and Hospital System, CMAP serves low-income, medically underserved women over the age of 40 in Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties.
Goal
The goal of CMAP is to improve the breast cancer early detection rate and eliminate screening disparities for women in Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties.
Objectives of the Community Mammography Access Project (CMAP)

To provide culturally and linguistically appropriate breast cancer education, screening, and referral services

To work in collaboration with the network of community-based health centers, St. Josephs’ Mobile Mammography Program, and the existing safety net of health care providers in Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties.
Services

Communities United for Women’s Health Project
Overview
Communities United for Women’s Health Project aims to educate women to adopt healthy lifestyle choices and advocate for their personal health. The project focuses on primary prevention that reduces and prevents the development of chronic disease.
Goal
To empower and educate women to advocate for their own health through education about healthy lifestyle choices in order to prevent the development of chronic disease later in their lives.
Objectives
Providing health education workshops on breast health, mental health, nutrition, physical activity, and sexual health. These workshops are free of charge, open to the public, and are offered in Spanish.
