Nonprofit of the Year Recognition

San Jose, CA (6.29.17) – On Wednesday, June 28th, Community Health Partnership (CHP) was named Nonprofit of the Year at a celebration of California Nonprofits Day at the State Capitol in Sacramento.

Community Health Partnership, represented by its CEO Dolores Alvarado, was selected by Assemblymember Evan Low to represent Assembly District 28, which encompasses much of the South Bay, as its Nonprofit of the Year. This award was given to approximately 100 out of the 250,000 nonprofit organizations registered in California. “I believe everyone deserves access to quality, affordable health care, which is why I am honored to recognize Community Health Partnership as AD 28 non-profit of the year. Now more than ever, it is imperative that we shine a light on the work organizations like Community Health Partnership do to keep all of our diverse communities healthy,” said Assemblymember Evan Low (D-Silicon Valley).

San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo added “congratulations to Community Health Partnership on receiving this well-deserved recognition and for its ongoing commitment to delivering critical healthcare services in some of the most underserved areas of our community.”

Santa Clara Supervisor Ken Yeager, chair of the County’s Health and Hospital Committee noted, “CHP has been tremendously important in helping make the Affordable Care Act such a success in Santa Clara County. They do incredible work to improve access to quality care for all residents.”

As Board President of CHP and CEO for Gardner Family Health Network, Reymundo Espinoza shared, “through CHP’s efforts, Community Health Centers have been acknowledged for their role as safety net providers for at-risk communities. CHP has been instrumental in the coordination and integration of healthcare services at all levels of the healthcare delivery system for the benefit of low income families and individuals and has been an asset for patients, health centers, and partners.”

Community Health Partnership (CHP) represents ten community health centers serving 38 sites in Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties, providing them with resources and expertise to deliver high quality, affordable care to a diverse community. CHP gives its members a collective voice to reach and educate policy makers, funders and community leaders – supporting local health centers’ efforts to shape health policy, secure funds, and strengthen the health care safety net. CHP also collaborates with members to drive best practices for quality care, maximize resources, improve technology tools, and navigate the changing health care environment.
